What Is HotFlux®?
HotFlux®, also known as Vanillyl Butyl Ether, is a colourless to light yellow liquid. On a molecular level, it is a molecule derived from capsaicin - an active component of chilli peppers. The name derives from its containing Vanillyl group connected to butane (a 4-Carbon molecule) by oxygen.
In comparison to other warming agents, HotFlux® was found to be safer and more efficient. It produces a warming sensation that tingles for much longer than other substances such as capsaicin itself would. Moreover, such mild warmth will offer a lower risk of irritation.

Summary
HotFlux®, derived from capsaicin, offers numerous benefits for increased hair density and overall wellness. It enhances microcirculation in the scalp, leading to healthier hair throughout the growth cycle.
Notable effects include improved nutrient delivery to hair follicles, reduced inhibitors of hair growth, and anti-inflammatory properties. HotFlux® binds to transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) in the skin, creating a warming sensation.
This binding opens the door for calcium ions to enter, triggering neuron activity, neurotransmitter release, and blood vessel expansion. The result is enhanced nutrient supply, hair growth factor production, and reduced dihydrotestosterone, the cause of androgenetic alopecia.
HotFlux® also combats inflammation and protects against air pollutants. It is a key ingredient in Bio-Pilixin® Activation Serum, supporting hair follicle cells and promoting natural increase in hair density.

HotFlux® - Better Hair Health And Overall Wellness
The main benefits of HotFlux® include mitigating hair loss or hair thinning and enhancing microcirculation within the scalp. Basically, it promotes a healthier scalp for stronger hair at all stages of the hair growth cycle. In a "simple blind study", the result showed that 0.5% HotFlux® is able to increase anagen/telogen ratio and improve the overall hair follicles growth cycle in 3 months.
1. Enhance Nourishment Factors
HotFlux® can enhance microcirculation by boosting blood cell flux and enabling more nutrients to be delivered to the hair follicles. In addition, it promotes hair growth factors via elevating their levels in a dose-dependent manner.
2. Protect From Inhibitors
HotFlux® provides an optimal environment for hair follicles to thrive. It helps reduce the number of cytokines that would otherwise inhibit the hair growth cycle, thus promoting new hair development while strengthening existing ones.
This compound also helps maintain healthy hair by relieving potentially damaging consequences and irritations from pollutants in the air.
A Closer Look Into The Mechanism
Transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) in the body is responsible, among others, for thermal and mechanical sensations. The functional part of HotFlux® is the Vanillyl group. It binds to the transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) present in the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin. Via this binding, its activation induces a local warming sensation.
Imagine the TRPV1 is a door connecting a house to the outside. The function of a door is to lock the house and only give access when it is unlocked. TRPV1 can change from closed to open status because HotFlux® has the right key (the vanillyl group) to unlock the receptor.
After HotFlux® has opened the door, the much-crowded Calcium ions on the outside of the cell can now enter freely. The calcium ions are creating an action potential (like current tension), which is like a switch turning on a signal going to the synapses to inform our brain that some kind of burning has been recognized and localised.
This signal also triggers the neurons to release glutamate, ATP and other neurotransmitters, initiating a cascade of warming sensations. It sounds like a long way, but it does not take long, just some milliseconds, to feel the first heat kicking in.
Some of the released neurotransmitters also act on vascularies by triggering the expansion of the blood vessel and up-regulating growth factors named IGF-1, VEGF and bFGF, thus enhancing their production. Due to the expansion of the blood vessels, more nutrients contained in the blood can be delivered to the hair follicles and the scalp, which are essential for better cell maintenance and growth. As the name growth factor may suggest, these compounds support and regulate various growth processes in the body, including promoting increase in hair density.
There is also evidence that HotFlux® can reduce Dihydrotestosterone. Dihydrotestosterone is known to be the cause of androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in men or women after menopause. By lowering dihydrotestosterone production there could be an improvement in AGA-related hair loss.
Last but not least HotFlux® supports the reduction of inflammation-inducing messenger substances, so-called cytokines (IL-6 and IL-8) and also lowers the uptake and effect of air pollutants on the scalp.
Take-away Message
So, as a take-away message and a little recap the main effects of HotFlux® are:
- Enhanced nutrient and oxygen delivery to the scalp and hair
- Increased density of hair and rebalance of the hair cycle
- Improvement of AGA-related hair loss
- Anti-inflammatory effect on hair and scalp, and
- Protection of the scalp from air pollution
With naturally-derived ingredients, including HotFlux®, our Bio-Pilixin® Activation Serum strengthens hair follicle cells while improving the scalp's natural balance.
For the best hair experience and natural increase in hair density!
